The company's primary operating subsidiary, CSX Transportation, operates approximately 21,000 route miles of railroad track across the eastern United States and Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec, serving 26 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada. As one of six surviving Class I railroads in North America, CSX transports diverse freight commodities including intermodal containers, coal, agricultural products, chemicals, metals, and industrial materials. The company operates two geographic regionsβEast and Westβeach with specialized sub-regions managing distinct corridors and markets.
